A group of children embark on a perilous journey to Jerusalem, led by Jacques de Cloyes, who claims to have received a divine message to find Jesus' grave. Along the way, they're joined by a wise monk, who listens to the children's confessions of unrequited love and jealousy for Jacques, who is himself torn between his own desires. As they near their destination, the question remains: was Jacques truly called by God, or is it something more earthly that drives him?
