A daughter shares the story of her parents' marriage, reflecting on the enduring power of true love.

In the 1980s, sisters Anne and Tania discover a mysterious ring and a photo of their uncle Jean with their mother and Tania, sparking Anne's curiosity as a filmmaker. The story unfolds through flashbacks, revealing the lives of Michel and Léna, a Soviet Jewish couple who married in a loveless union to escape a concentration camp after World War II. They move to Lyon, where Michel joins the Communist Party and opens a tailor's workshop, befriending party leader Maurice and his unfaithful wife Madeleine. However, their lives take a dramatic turn when Michel's missing brother Jean, presumed dead, reappears, and he becomes a key figure in Michel's business success. As Jean's influence grows, Michel's suspicions are raised, and Léna finds herself drawn to Jean, creating a complicated web of relationships and loyalties.
