In the small town of Laredo, reporter Michael O'Hare has been investigating the mysterious disappearances of people crossing the Mexican border. His search leads him to Ray Sullivan's bar, where he discovers that many of the missing individuals had stopped by before undergoing illegal plastic surgery at a clinic in Mexico. When Abby Morgan, a determined and resourceful lawyer, arrives in town searching for her missing sister Halie, she teams up with Michael to uncover the truth. Despite being arrested by deputy Tim Corbin for trespassing, they refuse to give up, with Abby insisting on going undercover as a patient to get to the bottom of the case.
