A young student, Takemura, is struggling to find direction in life, with no friends, family, or clear ambitions. He's also deeply in debt and is threatened by a debt collector, Fukuhara. After a rough encounter, Fukuhara proposes a surprising deal: in exchange for a million yen, Takemura must accompany him on a walk across Tokyo. As they journey through the city, they encounter various eccentric characters and develop an unlikely friendship.
