In 1987, 18-year-old Yonosuke Yokomichi moves to Tokyo from Nagasaki and befriends Ippei and Yui. He joins the Samba club, meets Kato, and takes a driving class with Yoko, who shows interest in him. However, he's infatuated with party girl Chiharu. The film jumps forward 16 years, showing the characters' lives, but Yonosuke is missing, having become a cameraman after college.
