In 19th-century India, Mary Lennox is orphaned by cholera. Her uncle Archibald Craven takes her in at his estate on Yorkshire moors. Despite initial rudeness, she gradually adapts as she explores the manor and befriends servants such as maid Martha and gardener Ben Weatherstaff.
