A traumatized Vietnam veteran, blinded by a bird attack after committing a gruesome murder, now lives as a bird specialist in a Louisiana swamp. Years later, a group of college students arrive at his house seeking advice on finding a rare woodpecker, unaware of the dark history that surrounds them. As they settle in for the night, strange occurrences begin to unfold.
