Three whalers, stranded in the Arctic North Canada in 1896, take refuge with an Eskimo tribe and gradually gain control over the village. They introduce vices like gambling, drinking, and theft, as well as a new form of sexuality. Initially, the Eskimos accept these changes, but as time passes, cultural tensions begin to rise.
