A journalist and a government agent join forces to track down a brilliant but reclusive scientist whose revolutionary technology has the potential to bring about global catastrophe.

The Phantom Creeps is a 1944 Universal serial that re-unites Bela Lugosi and Edward Van Sloan from the 1931 film Dracula. The serial follows eccentric scientist Dr. Alex Zorka as he conducts experiments in his secret laboratory, inventing strange weapons of warfare and a deadly meteorite fragment that can induce suspended animation. Foreign spies and Zorka's former partner, Dr. Fred Mallory, attempt to steal the meteorite element, leading Zorka to swear eternal vengeance against society and use his inventions to become world dictator. However, his plans are repeatedly thwarted by his incompetent assistant Monk, an escaped convict who is virtually enslaved by Zorka.
