Casey Owens, a young mechanic, designs a turbine car engine that could set a new land speed record. Wealthy playboy Stanford Rogers hires Casey to build a car for a record attempt, but engineering student Chuck Manning discovers flaws in the design. After a failed test run, Rogers abandons the project and enters a car in the Tristate Endurance Race instead. Casey and Chuck salvage the turbine engine and install it in a new car, with Casey's love interest Eadie, Chuck's sister, by his side.
