A struggling pharmacist, Johnny Quinlan, gets caught up with criminals after losing his job. He's recruited by Nifty Herman, who uses him to cover his own illegal dealings. However, after being caught with drugs, Quinlan turns the tables on Herman by convincing a federal agent to let him trap the criminal into confessing.
