A petty criminal, Ismael Lopez, commits a violent burglary, killing a painting restorer and shooting her daughter, Leire. Twenty years later, Leire remains mute and mentally childlike, living in a mental institution. When Ismael, now working in a bar, encounters Leire, he fears she may still recognize him and turn him in. He kidnaps her with his girlfriend Maite's help and demands a ransom from the institution. Despite being a prisoner, Leire and Ismael develop a bond through their shared love of chocolate and his attempts to make her laugh.
