A north Indian girl, Durga, and a Keralite youth, Kabeer, flee on a midnight, seeking transportation to a distant railway station to catch a train. Two small-time gangsters, transporting arms, offer assistance, and Durga encounters a diverse group of people throughout the night. Meanwhile, a mysterious event unfolds in a Kerala village, where devotees perform a ritual art form, "Garudan Thookkam", as a reward for problems solved in the goddess Kali's abode.
