Eleanor Collier, a determined actress, embarks on a series of publicity stunts orchestrated by her press agent, Charley Baxter. However, these stunts lead to trouble and a negative public image. As her boyfriend accuses her publicity mania of putting her in danger, she becomes entangled in an underworld killing. A gangster kidnaps her, mistakenly believing her to be the key witness. Just as all hope seems lost, a Broadway columnist intervenes to rescue her.
