A young woman from a small town, Elsie, becomes the mistress of a married businessman, Wade. When Wade's wife, Martha, discovers their affair, she fears Wade wants to kill her for his inheritance. Elsie agrees to kill Wade with Martha, but after the murder, Wade is arrested and Elsie creates an alibi by sneaking away from her boyfriend, Elden, who is suffering from epilepsy.
