An aging King Lear decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, prioritizing their declarations of love. However, when his youngest daughter Cordelia refuses to feign affection for her father's favor, he banishes her and turns to his other two daughters for support. Unbeknownst to Lear, Goneril and Regan have no genuine affection for him and secretly plot to seize his power. Meanwhile, Lear's loyal advisor Gloucester mistakenly favors his illegitimate son Edmund, believing lies about his loyal son Edgar. As a result, both Lear and Gloucester face a tragic downfall.
