Hanna's War background

Hanna's War

A young Hungarian Jew from British Palestine risks her life to sneak into enemy territory and save fellow Jews from being sent to concentration camps during World War II.

During World War II, a Hungarian Jew living in British Palestine volunteered to parachute behind enemy lines in German-occupied Yugoslavia to rescue fellow Jews from being sent to Nazi death camps. After joining the British Army, she trained in Egypt as a paratrooper for the Special Operations Executive. Hannah and her team parachuted into Yugoslavia in the spring of 1944 and joined a partisan group. Despite warnings, Hannah insisted on continuing her mission into German-occupied Hungary. Arrested at the border, Hannah and her companions were sent to a special prison, where she was subjected to torture and interrogation.
