Six friends reunite at a French cafe on August 24, 1939, vowing to return each year. As World War II unfolds, their lives take different paths: one joins the French resistance, another the commandos, one is forced into the Nazi army, and others become fliers and officers. Years later, the three surviving friends meet at the cafe on the day Paris is liberated and celebrate with a night of revelry.
