In the aftermath of the devastating Chernobyl nuclear disaster, a brave fireman embarks on a perilous journey to help contain the catastrophic damage and restore safety to the affected area.

The unlikely hero of the film is Alexey, a fireman at the power station, who embarks on a perilous mission to drain water from a reservoir under the burning reactor alongside Valery, an engineer, and Boris, a military diver.
