Bright Star background

Bright Star

The poignant tale of 19th-century poet John Keats' three-year romance with Fanny Brawne, unfolding in the final years of his life.

In 1818, Hampstead Village on the outskirts of London is the setting for a romantic drama. Poet Charles Brown lives with the Dilkes family, and through their association, the fatherless Brawne family knows him. Charles and Fanny Brawne, the eldest daughter, have a contentious relationship, with Fanny disapproving of Charles' arrogance and rudeness, while he views her as a pretentious flirt. When John Keats, a struggling poet, moves in with Charles, Fanny and Keats develop a mutual attraction, but their relationship is slow to blossom due to Charles' interference and their own doubts.
