In 1958 Tokyo, a teenage girl named Mutsuko leaves her hometown to work at an automotive company, but instead finds herself at a small repair shop owned by Norifumi Suzuki. Despite his short temper, the Suzuki family, including his wife Tomoe and young son Ippei, welcome Mutsuko like an older sister.
