Two childhood friends, Alan and Eric, are reunited in Hong Kong after being separated when Eric moved to America. They start a business together, but it's destroyed in a storm. As they compete for the affections of Olive, Alan's singing career takes off, causing tension among the trio. They eventually reunite in San Francisco, where Eric is dying, and they come to appreciate the true value of their friendship and realize Olive's happiness lies in marrying Alan.
