Journalist Peter Wildeblood begins a love affair with RAF corporal Eddie McNally in 1952, at a time when same-sex relationships were criminalized. They conduct their affair through letters, and Peter introduces Eddie to Edward, Lord Montagu, and Michael Pitt-Rivers. However, Peter's love letters to Eddie lead to his arrest, along with Montagu and Michael, and they are put on trial.
