Julian Marsh, a renowned Broadway producer/director, is tasked with creating a new musical revue, financed by Abner Dillon to showcase his girlfriend, Dorothy Brock. Despite being ill, Marsh is a demanding leader who pushes the cast to excel. When Brock suffers an injury, Peggy Sawyer, a chorus girl, gets her chance to shine as the new star, while also finding love.
